Drum Major Institute

The Drum Major Institute for Public Policy is a non-partisan, non-profit think tank generating the ideas that fuel the progressive movement. DMI launched the DMI Scholars program in 2006 to recruit young activists from these underrepresented communities and prepare them to advance progressive change through careers in public policy.
Through intensive skill-building, internships, and high-level networking, Scholars gain the hands-on experience and connections required to take their activism into the halls of policymaking. DMI Scholars go on to become legislative and research directors changing the conversation in City Hall, the United States Congress, and think tanks around the country. In this moment of progressive change, DMI Scholars ensures the future strength of the progressive movement.
